Use Apple Screen Time when you want broad built-in controls
Screen Time is part of iOS and includes activity summaries, downtime, app limits and communication controls. It is the right place to start when you want operating-system settings without creating another account or using a separate service.
Use Apple Focus when notifications are the problem
Focus helps decide which notifications and people can reach you and can change the appearance of your Home Screen or Lock Screen. It does not serve exactly the same purpose as a shield shown when you try to open a selected distracting app.
Use NyToSleep when the nighttime routine is the problem
NyToSleep organizes Apple-authorized controls around a Sleep Window: choose a schedule, protect selected apps, see what will happen tonight and track completed protected nights. Focus Mode can apply the same selected-app boundary on demand, while Short Break provides a limited exception during the Sleep Window.
Key differences
- Purpose: NyToSleep is centered on bedtime boundaries and intentional focus rather than general device management.
- Automation: scheduled protection starts and ends with the Sleep Window.
- Privacy: the protected-app selection remains on each iPhone and is not uploaded to NyToSleep.
- Multiple iPhones: progress and schedule can follow the account while each device maintains its own private app selection.
- Flexibility: Vacation Mode, Skip and Short Break represent explicit real-life exceptions.
Which should you try first?
Start with the built-in iPhone tools if they already create a boundary you follow consistently. Try NyToSleep when you want a clearer nighttime workflow, automatic selected-app protection and progress designed around protected nights.
